Its about a group of students who end up stranded on an island and if they laugh while on the island they die.
The protag finds humor in nothing so he's safe, but I think his best friend dies 1st because he's such a jovial guy and i wanna say the best friend also wore sunglasses?

OH but i remember one of the more mature (and i think yankee) type character making a really passionate speech about how no one else will die under his watch after they find out laugh on the island gets you killed. Then some girl farts right after and the yankee guy laughs at it and dies
