Pretty sure this was Chinese/a manhua. "Gardeners" are the protectors of the spirit trees. Monsters exist in the world. One powerful gardener was exiled to another planet. After decades of isolation, he is welcomed back to society. Something, something, difference in time flow and shenanigans, so he hasn't really aged whereas it's been like a century in the regular world. Now, in regular society, people are weak, and he has to save the day because whatever.

can't remember the name. Does it start with a female officer being sent to offer him his freedom and he initially refuses. The worlds can be "shut down" when the trees become corrupt and his sister maybe, was thought to have died in one of the closed worlds but they find a trace of her. He comes back and hacks there system I think.
