... Huh? What? You're going to have to word that a little better, because I don't even know what you mean by that. My first assumption though, is that he intended to kill her if she turned him down, and yeah, of course he intended to kill the evil demon that was holding the king hostage and attempting to take over the world, and had previously burned down villages and killed who knows how many people. Honestly the weird thing here isn't that he tried to kill her, it's the offer to date her.

I can try simplifying it a bit. Now, there's this word "murder", it signifies a really bad thing and a crime. There is also the word "murderous", which is sourced from the first, but isn't necessarily as stark in it's most common use, only loaning some of the imagery/attributes from the noun for this adjective, without actually cheapening how bad of a thing "murder" is.

There are a veritable ton of similar words or phrases (many such cases). Like the one word I used that you complained about. Take the word I used and try to fit it into that first paragraph.
