As for my jokey take... Shintarou dying of old age you'd think he'd arrive at the afterlife looking like an elderly considering the other people shown in the afterlife looks just like when they died.

Also also people talking about how weird it is that Shintarou got flashbacks to Momiji when she was still a normal fox while they're doing the deed... but I'm personally more curious about the fact that Hiiragi(the crow) and the tanuki(forgot her name) didn't pass on with them... Hiiragi most likely got together with Shintarou's son... as for the tanuki, I really thought her attachment was overseeing Shintarou too so kinda interesting she didn't pass on with them.
