lol i thought about that but i'm too lazy that kind of effortOhh awesome chapter (also really glad this wasn't an April fools joke)
Ty for the translation bestie!
That was so cute!!! Thank you again!
You explained it so well, took the words right out of my mouth! I agree i think jinju often did things to comfort doyeon instead of out of affection at first. She was very well aware that she may be a burden on doyeon and knew that all she could possibly offer is her body in a sense. But seeeingf as how shes been avting as of lately i think shes subconciously beginning to grow fonder of doyeon. The kiss was shocking as there was really no gain like you said and doyeon wasnt in any pain, but like you said it mightve been built up from what the professor said. a reward in a way. Im excited to see what happens next!!Something else I've been wondering about (word vomiting I don't have anyone to talk to this about lmao)
She might be hard to read and all (pokerfacing), but I get this vibe that Jinju is good at taking care of others. I can't tell what's going on through her mind when she would kiss Doyeon on the face, but it would usually happen when Doyeon seemed down or anxious. While it didn't seem like there were romantic feelings in those chapters (pretty early on tbf, between 11-15?), it really felt comforting to me, those gestures of affection.
Doyeon, outside of just lust, also seems to initiate when she feels insecure/upset, like she had that dream where dream-Jinju made her fear being unloved, or when Jinju shot down the date-like suggestions.
One time I find hard to understand or pin down is when Jinju revealed to Morae the nature of their relationship, and then immediately initiated with Doyeon after, apparently getting excited remembering what she told Morae. After what happened in the bathroom scene, I guess it might just be that she's into that lol
But the kiss from this chapter is quite new, it feels nice. This isn't just the first time Jinju kissed her on the lips, Doyeon also wasn't in distress. Was it a buildup from how Jinju felt when she talked to the prof? Was it bc Doyeon was once again trying to be responsible and take care of things? I'm assuming that she felt protective of her earlier, which I really appreciate bc she 'didn't have to'. I really want to know how she felt, why she kissed Doyeon when there was no utility/gain from that. It wasn't expected nor demanded of her (it wasn't Jinju responding to an external factor). She impulsively kissed her, and then immediately reconsidered that decision. I think that much she realises as well, that there wasn't a reason (utility or benefit-wise) to have done that.
Jinju is hard to read bc she doesn't show much on her face and we don't have as much access to her thoughts, but I find her really, really interesting to think about. Even if the starting point of their relationship is one of desperation/gratitude/debt, even if Jinju is 95% like T _ T, I really do get the impression that there was this budding sense of affection that isn't solely bc she "owes" Doyeon (obligation). I wonder if it throws Jinju off too, to receive so much unconditional care and consideration. I'm not sure she's known that before.
To some extent, things are "the right thing to do". And then beyond that line, it's "because I want to do these things". Kindness comes more naturally for Doyeon but, I'm interested to know what these [things] are for Jinju.
Ush you might be right maybe my girl is a better wording?? I’ll look more into that…. I think in this case my kid fit more than other times mostly because she was talking ‘as her aunt’ if that makes any senseWell it was quite an interesting chapter, and apparently "my kid" can be translated as "my girl"🤨. Jinju is a difficult character to read, but I think that she really is developing feelings for Doyeon, it's just that there are many underlying problems (the biggest one, I think, is Doyeon's resemblance to her young husband). Jinju started taking advantage of Doyeon's kindness (out of desperation), but at this point she hasn't realized that she sees her with different eyes, that she also wants to take care of her and that sex is no longer to "pay" her kindness, she likes it and even kisses are pleasant to her apparently.
The situation is getting more and more exciting, thanks for translate so fast!
Just curious about your interpretation, why do you think the mother spider story is heavy in retrospect?I wonder if Doyeon measures her self worth with how much she benefits others. Its like, being an orphan, she has no worth and isn’t wanted by anyone unless she’s useful to them (like taking care of others, disregarding her own needs), and now after she was adopted, she has this weight of gratitude, this debt she can never pay back. (Edit: that story about mother spiders is really heavy in retrospect)
I do love how their relationship is developing, but also that, this is likely the first time Doyeon has ever wanted something(one) for herself this badly.
Regardless of who benefits from what, i look forward to seeing how they help each other grow and learn to value themselves a little more
thank you for the translation, this had taken over my mind these past days haha
It’s supposed to be one of unconditional love and gratitude right? I‘m also from an Asian household so I get it, the idea of how selfless Asian parents are, how dedicated they are to their children. The baby spiders eating the mother, seeing her as just nutrients, imo that implies ungratefulness, taking lightly that sacrifice, bc theyre still young and immature, and haven’t learned to be considerate yet. It’s bittersweet and tragic. The moral of the story is to remind children of this love and how much they owe their parents. But how does Doyeon interpret this story?Just curious about your interpretation, why do you think the mother spider story is heavy in retrospect?
