Went from 0-100 REAL GOD DAMN QUICK THAT WAS UHHHH 💀💀💀
Well, there is a lot to unpack in this chapter. I believe jinju loves doyeon, but she’s too traumatized from her past to admit it to herself. I think she thinks she can’t love someone. One thing I’ve noticed in past chapters is how often jinju shows she cares without doyeon being present. When she shoos doyeons childhood friend off after he literally came there to confess. When she tells Morae off or when she gets defensive in front of doyeons professor. All of these are acts of possession and love. Yet doyeon isn’t aware of any of these situations. It just seems to me like jinju doesn’t want doyeon to find out. I’ve often wondered why and I feel like I’ve come up with different reasons for this. I’m kind of at a point where I just think it’s because jinju hates herself and has major abandonment issues. Maybe if she doesn’t love doyeon then she can’t get disappointed or hurt. Maybe she thinks she can’t truly be in a normal relationship anymore. I honestly don’t really know tbh. I know for sure she just thinks she’s too broken to love or be in a normal healthy relationship.
Whats interesting to me is that jinju gives her body up completely to doyeon. Giving doyeon permission to do whatever she wants. You would think it’s basically seems like prostitution. But I’m curious to know if she’s giving her body up to doyeon forever. Even if her husband comes back, will she still just give her body to doyeon? I think after this chapter I’d say yes. Although it’s never stated for how long, it just seemed to me like jinju gave herself over to doyeon for as long as doyeon wants jinju. Which to jinju it was the best she could do. She seems to have a lot of trauma and probably has never received love from her parents so she doesn’t even know how it looks like. Which in a weird way I found it kind of sweet she did that. She likely doesn’t know what a healthy relationship looks like, she seems to only see herself useful for her body, and the one thing she thinks she’s useful for she’s giving it all to doyeon after being married for 20 years. The one thing that she has of value, it’s all given to doyeon.
Doyeon is probably insulted by the whole situation. She snaps right when jinju gives herself to doyeon. Doyeon likes jinju not just for her body but for her. So to have jinju give herself up like a prostitute probably made doyeon feel like that’s all she cared about. To add insult to the injury everytime doyeon has sex with jinju she will always think jinju could never love her and is just in a way selling her body to her. But doyeon will take what she can get because this is the closes thing she’s ever wanted in her life. Jinju May never love her but at least jinju will stay with her and not anyone else. Still it has to sting. So she’s going to lash out.
Doyeon fucks jinju, not out of love but out a mix of hurt, punishment, and ownership. That’s why I don’t think jinju gets wet at first. She’s scared of doyeon because this May be the most pissed we’ve ever seen doyeon get. Doyeon isn’t someone that’s used to not havihh be what she wants or to even desire anything. This might be the most upset doyeon has ever gotten in her life and she absolutely has no idea how to react. But even when jinju is getting punished she still ends up getting excited. She mentions how she’s never felt this way before in her own home, and she knows it’s supposed to hurt. I know it was hurting for her at first, but eventually she loses control of her body and finds pleasure. She has felt nothing really when having sex with her husband but with doyeon she’s always feeling something whether it’s good or bad. Jinju is begging doyeon to stop, similar to when they first had sex. The first time they had sex she came, she begged doyeon to stop now and she squirted for the first time. There’s parallels to now and when they first have sex. This is the first time they have sex after talking about each other’s feelings and where they stand in their relationship. Jinju is covering herself up because she’s pretty embarrassed. I mean she made a mess on doyeons shirt, enough for doyeon to stop and look down. Imagine getting punished and squirting so hard on your punisher that they have to stop and look at the mess you made. Jinju doesn’t have control over what her body can do, doyeon has more control over what it can and can’t do. Doyeon dictates when jinju cums and when she doesn’t whether she wants to or not.
It’s rape at the end of the day. Doyeon is a rapist even if she makes jinju squirt herself. But it’s not very black and white. Yes, it’s bad, but it I don’t think it’ll scare jinju away, in fact, jinju May find comfort in the fact that doyeon wants to possess her in such a way. If it wasn’t for the fact that we know doyeon has strong feelings for jinju, I would say she’s taking advantage of her in a domestic abusive relationship. Instead I think doyeon is this way because she’s just as broken as jinju.
I think in the next chapter we will see doyeon kind of back off and clean jinju up. I think she might feel a little regret for pushing jinju over the edge like that and snapping at her. Honestly I’m kind of expecting to see some aftercare action.

Am I the only one who feels like this sex scene is unnecessary? Please tell me I’m not the only one, lmfaooooo 😭
I believe sex scenes are best composed when they are drawn or written with the intention to move along the plot; intercourse is the kind of thing that necessitates intimacy, regardless of how well you know, or like, someone. It’s why romances so often utilize sex as a way to show progression in a relationship, or the narrowing of a gap between two characters — either / or depending on context.
It’s been 33 chapters. Absolutely nothing substantial has happened, and neither has any of the sex scenes these recent chapters served a purpose that goes beyond superficial characterization.
Doyeon is kind and gentle to her peers. Reliable. She has always taken on unnecessary responsibilities for the comfort of others, and doesn’t seek reward or compensation for her hard work. Characters that are defined by their readiness to care for others but not themselves, much like in real life, often don’t have much agency of their own…except, Doyeon, despite Morae’s expository monologue just one chapter ago, does. She fingerblasts Jinju in the bathroom entirely on her own volition. She chooses to fuck Jinju instead of run after Morae and Gunwoo — one being a girl she grew up alongside, and another a boy that she sees as her little brother. She wasn’t pushed into a corner when she went into Jinju’s house and through her belongings, either.
It’s not that Doyeon can’t control herself. It’s that she can’t control Jinju.
I feel like the two aforementioned sex scenes are really the only ones necessary in cementing that Doyeon is possessive. That her desire to monopolize and confine Jinju stems from a place of love, in spite of her awareness that there’s a quality of unhealthy obsession behind it.
We already saw in chapter 23 that Doyeon tends to use sex as a means to control Jinju. This was emphasized again only 2 chapters later on chapter 25. I don’t understand why we need another sex scene to show how jealous and desperate Doyeon is…when we literally just had a bomb dropped on us (see: Jinju admitting that she can’t love Doyeon)
It feels wrong, almost? Like, damn! You guys only just fucked 2 chapters ago in the bathtub! I would’ve preferred seeing Doyeon distancing herself again. Her internal turmoil is not well shown through the sex scene here, imma be real honest with y’all. It’s literally nothing we haven’t seen before; Doyeon’s gap moe and the shades of dubcon really aren’t anything new. It’s just another sex scene. One that feels shoehorned in, it does nothing for the story.
There’s this manhwa that I really love called Love For Sale, and the English version updates on Wednesdays on Lezhin with this one as well. In the beginning, there were a lot of sex scenes that went back and forth, but one thing that I really liked was that the ML very clearly viewed the sex as an obligation and didn’t really participate out of any sexual desire. But after 40 chapters of abstinence, and him falling in love along the way, his behavior when he and the MC have sex…changes. He blushes, gets embarrassed, is more susceptible to cutting foreplay early and giving in to impatience; not only does how long it took for them to have sex again play a part in showing how far they came as a couple, but it also moves along the plot because we’re getting character development through the sex scene.
Nothing changed with Doyeon in any of the sex scenes, let alone this one. She remains dominant, loose-lipped, strangely vulgar. Considerate as long as a switch hasn’t been flipped.
Jinju is no different, either! 😭 Still just as sensitive and resigned to giving up her body. I wish that instead of focusing on the sex, or dedicating half of the chapters to it, we get more info on Doyeon and Jinju as individuals that exist outside of each other. I think that’s why I prefer the earlier chapters, because the little glimpses we got into their lives before they met was genuinely very compelling. Doyeon presumably got ostracized as a child in the orphanage, I’m still waiting on more elaboration on that. How did that event impact her perspective on loneliness? What the hell happened?
I have the tendency to ramble but I hope that I managed to get my point across. I like Love Thy Neighbor. I believe it has a lot of potential, and I can tell that the author is very talented at both character design and the composition of interesting backgrounds. Jazkin’s hard work and speedy updates is the cherry on top for me tbh, it always makes me happy to see a scanlator so dedicated to their craft. I just wish that Doyeon would stop making pussy appointments and instead hook one up with a therapist 💔

Is it though? I know it is a delicate matter, but when Jinju said "stop" it wasn't because she didn't want to have sex with Doyeon or because of the pain, but because she didn't want to come that fast. I even was a bit relief to see that it wasn't forced since I like Doyeon as a character and I wouln't like to see her go that way. But I do think they shouldn't have done it, there wasn't any love in it, just pain.
