For any guy who ends up with a woman like Risa, let me tell you, they just don't realize they're not opening their stupid mouths to talk about the things they should. They'll talk and talk, but they won't actually tell you what's bothering them, and they expect you to somehow pick up the clues and solve problems you didn't know existed.

So here's what I did. I told her that I wasn't a psychic and I'm dense as fuck, and as a result, she should grow the fuck up and spell out shit to me.

Mind you, we were married by that time, so your mileage may vary. The problem won't go away overnight, but keep reminding each other that neither of you could read minds. And chances are really good that you gotta grow the fuck up yourself. Remember dat.

But I gotta tell you, if you actually use the actual words "grow the fuck up" to your woman, you better be ready to be sleeping alone. You have been warned.

All is fun, but don't u think it's weird how every character's antagonizing otani for not reciprocating her feelings. It's not like he gave her a vague answer, he firmly rejected her twice. And now everyone's pissed at him when her affection is being forced upon him and as if she's entitled to receive it... still love them tho, it was just so biased.

Otani is a good kid, and it's his right to reject her, but this is still brutal. Risa should move on, even just a bit, because good the heartache is not worth it

The gender dynamics of this entire arc is interesting, especially since this is ostensibly a shoujo manga for a female POV / audience.

Ever since Risa confessed and Otani "rejected" her, I've had the urge to just shake Risa by the shoulders and go, "Move on! Have more self-respect! You don't have to prove yourself to that guy if he's not interested! You're fine the way you are!" (Which is often what I want to say to so many of the 'losing' heroines in countless romance manga that devolve into love triangles or harems)

But let's say we were reading a shounen manga where the male character confesses to the girl and she says she's not sure, but doesn't outright reject him. He then decides he'll do his best to grow and be worthy of her, and they dance around the fact that he still has a chance.

In a way, that's what Risa is kind of doing, is she not? But I don't know why I feel like Risa is debasing herself whereas a male protagonist you might root for him to get that chance.

Because I'm a guy, maybe that's why I can understand wanting to become better and "get" that partner in the inverse scenario, and maybe that's the exact same feeling a woman reading this manga would feel.

The difference is you’ve seen Risa cry like 7 times and shift mental states repeatedly while Otani’s treated like this unmoving rock for the last 10+ chapters.

I feel like any sort of series where you’d watch that, it would invoke negative emotions no matter the gender.

I think what sours it is the fact ohtani firmly rejected her yet respected her boundaries, reconcile anyway he could, REJECTED EVEN CONTACTING HIS EX JUST SO KOIZUMI WONT CRY, and did everything he asked because he does value her as a friend and person yet is treated as a villain by his peers which is weird bc the first it happened with haruka Koizumi nipped it in the bud as quick as possible. I just don’t like ohtani being punished for havin emotional intelligence and maturity.
