kinda odd how the price for the manga in Japanese is more expensive compared to the average pricing of manga out there. but oh well, bought the physical one just for collection

Huh, this is one of those anime-came-first series. I find these to be the most difficult to get invested on because these manga are written on the assumption you've watched the anime already most of the time so there's little to no setup to the story on the manga side and most things don't quite make sense as a result.
