We don't know if it was intentional yet or not but:
Asahi loved Minoru, but in a very twisted way - she wanted to be the note that Minoru tore up and stomped into the cubby. Basically toxic yuri, but inversed and straight.
So it might have very well been intentional as she wanted to get ride of her competition for Minoru's attention/"affection".
