Either the author wants everyone to hate Gae Ddong without a shadow of a doubt or he still plans to redeem him at some point (probably next couple of chapters).
I couldn't interpret his expression after he took the money from the noble: Was he excited after receiving a large sum of money or was it because he actually didn't want to hand over his fiancee to the noble but he didn't have the balls to refuse?
