@ESCrowe It's a device that takes you back in time when you are exposed to the abyss's curse. Marulk went back in time and gave it to Riko in the past. She then gave it to him in the present. It's a time loop, and although it doesn't make much sense, it's a neat concept.

Kind of weird, but it doesn't make much sense why Marulk would be so afflicted by curse in that location unless it also teleports location too. I wonder if it is a device used to link two together who have a connection as a way to protect one until the time they die of natural causes. It is like a delving tool, a safety harness to save you from curse so you can live a normal life and have a normal death.

@Liquidxlax - Marulk was climbing the walls of the 3rd layer, wich already have a strong (but not fatal) effect over people. Guess this effect was enough to activate the Relic, wich brought Marulk to the past for a short moment in the same place.
