Tsukushi is just amazing at keeping the suspense going. And the drawing quality, the expansive worldview that just seizes you and leaves you with a desire to think more and know more about it, everything...... Don't know what else to say other than that he's hands-down a true genius.

Been prevaricating recently whether I should keep MiA in my 9.5-10 list alongside Muv-Luv Alternative and SubaHibi (and probably Oyasumi Punpun), but this volume confirms yet again that if MiA is not god-tier stuff, then what is?

Even if Nanachi died here, this series has already demonstrated ways to cheat death. Riko herself was a stillborn baby and somehow revived through the use of a relic. Then there was Mitty who was supposed to have been physically deleted by Reg and somehow another copy of her still existed somewhere after they dramatically sent her off. Srajo I'm sure also did not talk about the nature of souls for nothing. Maybe a Chekhov's gun waiting to be fired.

The point is, if the author wanted to, he has already established ways to bring her back, assuming she IS dead here and not just critically injured, basically waiting for an "upgrade" to give her more useful abilities via relics etc. since narratively speaking, her "knowledge of the abyss" stopped being useful once they left layer 6 or earlier. Arguably, as a character she was most important in layer 4, but that was ages ago.

Side characters have been killed off before, but a main character? I don't remember. Even Bondrewd somehow survived, yo. I'm being skeptical. I'll believe Nanachi's permanent death when the characters themselves confirm it.

Hear me out, nanachi's "blessing of the abyss" surely must grant her more powers other than looking and smelling good. It's the direct opposite of the curse. So SURELY, surely she has some sort of healing ability that she hasn't activated yet, because she hasn't been physically harmed enough to bring it out. Surely!

That gigantic jelly-creature is bending/fracturing the light just by existing, that's why we saw 4~5 of it in the reveal panel. Took me a while to understood.

It also have top tier antidote functions and I hope the sensory deprivation zone is not also its doing lmao.
