I think it might just be a curse to whoever goes into “that house/house of Kudan”. The guy did mention that the baby must’ve been born at where the two victims were found, being caught within the Kudan’s influence.

There isn’t much to tell us why this Kudan extends its influence towards everyone, from the family, to the two modern victims, but these things might just be malicious for no reason.

I love how the only explanation is through a pun or play on words. Fun stuff.

A bit of a weird one, but I guess because there is implication that the family burned kudan baby, probably out of fear, their deaths and deaths of two guys might be revenge of angry spirit.

kudan is one of the japanese yokai that seriously creeps me out. the current arc in Urasekai Picnic manga is also themed around it.

Assuming the family were horrified by the creation they killed it before it could even make its prediction so what we end up with is a ghost of a yokai that still got a job to do. It now latches onto anyone it can and they gain its blessing and curse. The family were probably its first victims since they ended up dying the next day instead of that same night.

It’s interesting how the other two who found them and brought them back didn’t also get possessed since they also went into the house even if they weren’t purposefully trespassing

I think they also need to know about it? The first two guy must have seen the yokai or something when they went inside the house but the other two guys didn't. That's what the ending imply? The guy that found them now know and the curse may latch onto him now?

My guess is that they burned the cows because the kudan is a human-cow hybrid, or that they burned the same time they burned the baby. Everyone who saw the kudan was cursed to become something like a kudan - having no other purpose but to make a prediction before dying. The whole household saw it, so they all died. The trespassers probably saw an apparition in the birthing room, and got cursed that way.
