Hmm, given how cliche it is for an Isekai protagonist to introduce simple machines and other small innovations that improve quality of life to a fantasy world, I tried doing quick search about real history for hand pumps. Seems like they started appearing in the 1400s. Given that the typical fantasy settings tends to resemble late middle ages or perhaps renaissance era, pumps like that should probably already exist. Unless of coarse there was some in-universe explanation like engineers/inventors had some other priorities (Ex. focused on designing monster defenses).

Feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken though, I'm genuinely curious.

I think that because most isekai have magic, advancement more likely goes toward magic, if you need water why not using water magic, if need fire why not using fire magic, etc.

And most isekai use monster core as fuel, so if you can get it easily why search and alternative.

(Sorry if my english bad)

Well that was an interesting leap in logic. Two people enjoy each others company? Must be sleeping together
To be fair, it was to the point of freely inviting them into their sleeping quarters to share them, which just Was Not Done; an offering of a guest room or rooms, sure, but not to share the same chamber. There were a lot of liaisons like that, back in the day, actually. Their nobilities' culture seems to be based off of medieval European in broad strokes, so not surprised to see it referenced here.

See, that's probably how the authors are thinking (if they're even thinking about it at all), but it's incorrect, too. Just because we have nuclear engineers doesn't mean that windmill technology is put to the wayside, or solar engineers don't exist; there would be plenty of non-magical smiths and artisans that would have developed such means without magic being involved.

Especially considering that the pump not needing to be magically powered was touted as an advantage here...meaning the demand for unpowered mechanical devices ought to be high. And since magical engineers are such a respected bunch, the world shouldn't be falling behind in mechanical engineering and material sciences...

Well, they're focused on making golems. I guess if an engineer in that world wanted to make it easier to draw water, they'd make a robot torso and two arms you could order to pull the rope with a bucket at the end. Which would be too expensive for random towns.

The art in this chapter looks kind of sloppy to me.
And the Japanese' obsession with hand water pumps strikes again.

Previous arc was some kind of international conspiracy, and ended so abruptly. Wonder what this next arc is supposed to be, gay innuendos arc? 🙃🙃

Generally, science is held back in these worlds' because of their reliance on magic I think Overlord even addresses that concept.

Pump depends on keen understanding of pressure and behavior of liquids. Something that hasn't been demonstrated in this story yet.
Especially the new kind of pump MC made here - if I remember my school physics lessons right, it's an advanced design using a few tricks.

From what I remember:
It's going to be mostly about relationships. With a sideline in nanotechnology.

Wait...
That dude was ready to "take one for the team" in the name of his sister just so his sister's fiance didn't?
