Since a lot of people are clearly clueless, this is was a tie in for the Chandra plot line that was happening and is set shortly after the Chandra vs Jace plot. Essenitally it is a worse set up/slight retelling of a plot in the book series. It is one of those things were if this was a fan work it would be okay, but as an officia release (on a meta level this was during a push to appeal to the japanese audience and the jp release of the chandra vs jace duel deck has anime art for the title planeswalkers) it is pretty shit in all honesty.

@mase_aga No, it doesn't. The only connection here is that in that manga, they play MTG, and this manga is about MTG lore. But the story is otherwise unrelated.

That said though, right off the bat they make a reference to Minami Kotarou. Usually it's Hongo Takeshi. Pretty neat.
