Being a natural talent with a bit of ingenuity, in a place where the talented can basically skip the test, makes me believe he would do terrible in a teaching position. They aren't going to be teaching the talented, most of the students will need to learn the technical basics that he has only glanced at so far.

true but red hair doesn't know that. He probably thinks the MC is a super genius and is trying to help him by getting him out of a dead end job.
