plot twist is unheard of and just eviscerates the story's momentum for no reason. It's pain, since it was building to something - and the substitute is still handled well? it just betrays expectations badly

That's entirely on MangaPlus (the official publisher...not just an "off-site host"). They recently(ish) changed the scope of free access for this title.

MD has an automated script which synchronizes each M+ title with what's freely available, hence certain links disappearing.

I was genuinely interested in this series and seeing where it would go as MC grew in talent and confidence. I took a break after they changed up the status quo in a major way and when i came back it's all gone anyway. So... yeah not gonna bother looking for the rest.

Really enjoyed this for the few arcs, but something about it really started falling flat. I think it's the characters, we're up to eight or nine main characters but none of them really shine.

As far as completed stories go, not bad. There's a full arc for our MC bossgirl Kana-chi and not too many dangling threads left at the end. I hope the author can put out a couple extra side stories now that the series has wrapped, and I'll look forward to whatever they do next
