It seems early enough that Theo didn't realize Sae was his sister as well. Hope we get to find out what happened there some time.

I'm curious when the mangaka decided to include this connecting bond. The one-shot stars "Shio Fumis" but it's Sae. And then for some reason the protagonist was changed to a male, and the old protagonist was turned into a side character with the same last name with the orphanage background as the explanation why they share it.

It's just intriguing from a writing/creating standpoint.

i forgot her name but i believe she is the one that keep looking after sae. i think she too from the same orphanage but she retain her own name instead adopt the doctor's/orphanage's name as their surname.

edit: sae childhood friend is Tepel.

Nah, tepel said she lived with her parents and wasn’t a part of the orphanage. It just that the orphanage doubled as a public school

Holy shit, that's TIFA! Finally after so long she plays a role again. Its been so long i didn't expect it at all.

Being raised by a former editor with passion for books explain why Tifa's adamant on theo's education. (Remember that scene when she persuade theo the importance of learning? That's my favorite scene in this series).

It probably not him, but everyone else around. The society, maybe even other relatives, may well looked askance at Lumino raising a amity child and pressuring him about it. Thus Tifa run away, partly to protect theo, but also so to not burden Lumino and the rest of the orphanage. That's my guess.
