That said, while there's a bunch of suggestive framing in their closeness I do think the romance tag should be removed from the page. It was never advertised as a romance and the author has never stated it was going to go that route so it's best not to give misplaced expectations.
Yoouuuu are not at all familiar with what gets a woman going, are you? Switching between abusively controlling and kind is the exact sorta unpredictable bullshit that irrigates inner thighs. Teasing her constantly adds to it. This dude is 100% written to be a main love interest that appeals to a woman's sensibilities. All he needs is a tragic backstory for why he's evil and a dash of self-loathing (the latter of which has already been implied with the "I am a phantom" pages) and he's tailor made to appeal to women. He even did the chin grab lift thing on page 24!

The details of how this is a romance might be going over your head but this is absolutely the main couple.

edit: Seriously, just look at that second-to-last page. That sort of aggressive possessiveness is expertly designed to get girls going. I can tell from that alone that Tanpopo's characterization is going to be kept as bland and generic as possible to let the female audience self-insert.

Actually according to a recent interview by the mangaka, the leads relationship isn't romantic. Exact words used:
Mizuho: I think my storytelling style is somewhere between shoujo and shonen manga. Many Shoujo magical girl series tend to depict the leads in a romantic relationship, but in Mahou Shoujo Dandelion Shade and Tanpopo aren't romantically inclined. They are rather more like close friends --which does come off closer to a shonen series. However, I also think they have feelings for each other that can't be simply summed up as romance or friendship. Depending on the reader's point of view, this series could be either a shonen or shojo.
So I think Mami is right, the romance tag should be removed.

Blinks slowly I'm a woman, why am I being lectured about what appeals to me by some condescending rando who doesn't even seem to respect the story just because I (correctly) stated that the romance tag should be removed from the story that wasn't explicitly advertised as?

Eh, I don't know, although I can definitely see the inspiration...I don't know if I get "Ship" vibes from Shade and Tanpopo. Honestly, I kind of see it more as a father-daughter dynamic...which would is hilarious and...inevitably tragic depending on where this series goes
Tbf I don't see father and daughter so much as friend/guardian of a younger less experienced friend, but you are right in that the author has explicitly said their relationship won't go into any romance

The way you write about what appeals to women and generalisations you make are so weird and honestly makes me think that you yourself don't interact with women much, if at all. The author uses typical 'sexy man' clichés. That's it. That doesn't prove that the main duo are destined to be a couple or that their dynamic was purposefully written to 'get a woman going' because one chapter has convinced you that the MC THE ENTIRE SERIES IS BASED AROUND is written solely to be a female self insert so that 50% of the fan base can have their 'inner thighs irrigated' (?????)

Again - one chapter. Just the first chapter alone has you saying all this stuff, most of which has been specifically debunked by the author.
