It's hard to say. Vivid Life was obviously designed with Vivid in mind.
But since its story runs parallel to Vivid's, you should understand most of it without watching Vivid.
The biggest difficulty you'll have is with the characters.
They're introduced with little more than a text box with their name in it, and the manga assumes you already know who they are (more or less).
It still does basic explanation, but nothing in-depth.
Also, since it runs parallel to the original story, many events just happen behind the scenes.
For example, this manga starts with the girls training for an upcoming tournament, then suddenly they already know some of their rivals and may have already fought with them.
Still, it doesn't heavily rely on events from the original, and it's comedy, so you might be able to still read it without watching Vivid.
At least, that's my personal opinion. Your mileage may vary.
