The art was good, but the storyline was curiously predictable and not that fun or interesting. The motivations for some of the characters weren't particularly gripping or convincing either. Some good elements, but not enough to overcome how the whole is worse than some of the parts by themselves. Some good characters, but a plot that's not worthy of them.

Like many spin-offs, it kind of reads more like Madoka fanfiction (albeit one true to the lore of the series) more than it does a proper side story in the universe.

Decent spin-off and I enjoy the concept behind Suzune's character and motivation, but the final volume is just a bit iffy to me. I read somewhere that the author was pressured to extend it an extra volume, and I think it shows. Up until then it was a pretty solid story, if just slightly fast-paced, but the addition of the final character just made it messy. The author did a great job integrating her into the story, but her design and personality didn't feel particularly well-done. She just feels edgy, no real substance.
