Why would you do this to me ?
Why would you leave me on a cliffhanger like that ?

You know what would really tick me off here?

*Last page showing "the end," a thank you for buying this book*

But it did not so I'm hoping for a happy end or I'll burn this down in my memory in the depths of the abyss to reach oblivion

@FlatEarth Honestly, you make a good point. Given how powerful Edi is, I personally think that if he did fake his own death it was so he can run ahead of the slow as fuck party and kill the Demon Lord himself so as to get it done and over with. This could explain why the Demon Army was defeated so quickly.

If, however, he didn't fake his own death and has simply been recovering from a serious injury, then that could explain why he hadn't returned to either the party or Philomena. They mentioned that his staff was completely drained of magical energy, so if we assume he lost a lot of his mana due to the fight then he couldn't teleport to anyone and wouldn't be able to use any magic to locate the rest of the party. In that situation, the best way to survive is to find a rock to hide under and wait until his magic recovered enough to teleport home to Philomena.

I really hope he simply went ahead and killed the Demon Lord since that way he wouldn't be hurt, but at the same time I don't because that means he didn't let anyone know of his plan which led to Philomena believing he died. The next chapter can't come soon enough. :I

I also thought it was pretty obvi that he faked his death. The reason being: to get out of work.
He hated that they kept giving him more and more titles/responsibility. When they said that his disciple replaced him, I had a thought... What if he went MIA so that his disciple could reap all of the accolades? His disciple's name will go down in history, which will also boost his career, proving that he's a worthy and powerful wizard, and that he can take over all of Edi's duties. That way, Edi can "retire" (aka abandon his post hassle-free from all sides).

Most likely. Though, I expect if he did go ahead, he also did it because that is just his style. He (like she) plays his (their) own dirge (meaning, they unnecessarily fight their battles, alone, in stoic disassociation from the outside world. Both MCs do this and in that way, they are kinda wired for one another).

It makes reasonable sense that he'd do it as described, and as for why he hasn't (until now) told the MC what he's up to? Well, shouldn't that be obvious by now? Because both of them are stubborn chowderheads who refuse to cease-and-desist with their incessant stoicism. =P

It's kinda become a part of their annoying charm. 😅😂

I usually can't hold my tears and start to cry a lot but for some reason I didn't feel anything while reading this chapter? I do feel sorry for MC but like how am I supposed to believe he's dead when the whole story is about the two of them being together?
