This "official" reader is a poster for how lazy the industry is.

Mangadex and other aggregator sites are free, some do have ads, but even the laziest ones have readers that are a 100 times better.

I love this manga, I loved these chapters, this arc has a lot of promise... but this "official" "translation" and reader have sapped my desire to comment on the story.

I understand that the enforcement against piracy has been strong in recent years, and simulpubs discourage the effort of fan translators.

I don't have an answer for the first part, when the publishers crack down I don't have the right to blame anyone for backing down, but these simulpubs are stupid.

They clearly are doing it in the laziest way possible, low quality scans, low quality translation, and low quality readers, those should not be a reason to give up on the scanlation.

Just goes to show fans don't really want quality translations, just the fastest ones. If they can't win the release race, then a better scanlation is worthless. And this is why it's where the industry is headed.

Always has been the case even before AI, really. 99% of the readers only read and even donate to the low effort fast releases rather than the high effort slow releases which is why they died out. It's just that low effort are now being replace by no effort.
