I thought the toilet scene with the 3 strangers was gonna go somewhere very different

With each new chapter, I can understand why so many scanlation groups dropped the translation for so many years. At times, the author tries to create a comedic situation, but at others, the drama is heartbreaking.

Sometimes it makes me wonder if the author has Schadenfreude, or is trying to appeal to an audience with that syndrome.
