I’m never not amused by how Japanese MCs in manga are denser than a neutron star.

Well, before reading the Novel, I kinda thought the same, but after reading the Novel, I kinda understood why he is like that.

So, because of his time spent with Charlotte, he started to change and when he saw her crying, instead of indirectly solving the problem, he did it himself.

As for his obliviousness... I can't explain it since it would have A LOT of spoilers

Going to ask here again since people are more likely to read this comment section,
Does anyone know manga similar but with more focus on cute scenes between a kid (like Emma) and someone like Aoyagi (older and the kids clingy with them)? without romance between the two, I don't want any Usagi drop style situations.

Love so life https://mangadex.org/title/911a12ae-1022-448e-9219-b7b294d7fb3e/love-so-life?tab=chapters 10/10 for me. It's already completed too and even has a sequel. It does have some romance going on between the kids' guardians, but there's plenty of cuteness from the kids.

Not gonna be exactly the same but the titles that come to mind are Horimiya and "I Started Working a Housekeeping Job and Ended up Being Liked by the Family of the Most Beautiful Girl in School" different cuz the kids clinging are little brothers but they're still good nonetheless.

But if you really don't mind diabetes from too much sweetness id check out "The Angel Next Door Spoils me rotten"👌🏽

She could confess. Or even if she didn't directly and unambiguously confess immediately, she could be a whole lot more direct about it. I don't know if Akihito really was a child soldier in Afghanistan and Sudan, but he clearly has got his own issues weighing down on him, plus he absolutely needs to stay on top of his studies, all the time. Now he feels somewhat responsible for Charlotte and Emma, having gotten involved with them. Feeling responsible for them will prevent him from so easily seeing romantic undertones, to some degree. He's not the kind of guy who would be helping them just in order to get something in return.

I have the impression that, despite stating that Charlotte is from the UK, the mangaka japaneseises her and thinks British girls would also be a blushing, stuttering mess, doing tsundere things instead. A wasted chance for having a more straightforward than normal manga FMC. Well, whatever, they will figure it out somehow.
