Bruh, Henry, tf you doing? If promoting Iruma may cause opposition then the entire Scala is pointless and it would be literally your job to do something about that.
Mephisto imitating the Many Ears logo in one of his designs made me chuckle, but I'm still pissed.

Let's not forget that these ranks are not just representative, but come with an actual increase in magic and power, so this situation is akin to you sitting in front of the boss of HR who's going: "You know, I would have promoted you to the position you auditioned for, but Steve from section B told me that some of the higher-ups could be opposed to it, so I didn't.
You'll keep your old job and wages, but here, have this nice pin I made to always remind you that in my eyes you should have gotten the job. (Oh, I'll also be sitting in the cubicle next to you from tomorrow on.)"
So? dis the Netherworld, where demons (tho the behave a LOT like humans) live. And you're still wrong, too. This is akin to the government not raising your salary because it could de-stabalise the economy. Henri is a 13 crown, a noble of The Netherworld. Also, ranks represent power, no? Otherwise this entire thing was pointless and the Demon King is just a puppet because the power is not his. That would make this mid series more interesting. When rank 1 demons can exhibhit power of rank 9 demons but never have been rank 9s themselves because of The Netherworld's meritocratic system. I guess even that's too big-brained for this series.

So I am "wrong" because you found something in my analogy that you disagree with. Analogies may not be 100% perfect and accurate in every aspect. Somebody prepare an award for this phenomenal insight.

I don't even know what you want to say with the rambling rest of your post. When I was talking about power I meant that absolutely literally, as shown before when Iruma's rank rose and Ari got stronger.

No, just that your analogy was completely misrepresenting the situation. Analogies are supposed to make things easier to understand by representing the situation as accurately as possible. However, it makes sense that you were not capable of that.

As if your alternative was any better
That is one use of analogies. Mine was specifically intended to point out the absurdity of the situation by changing the context into a different but familiar setting.
That is where yours would completely fail.

Alternative was not better? Henri is a member of a governing body in the Netherworld. The 13 Crowns.
Changing the context only worked to make you sound retarded. The situation is not absurd. Delaying his promotion was a reasonable conclusion.

Ah yes, it is indeed absolutely relatable that people's promotions get denied because it destabilizes economies. Happens three times every day. I am the idiot here. (Just to be on the safe side, as I don't trust you not to take what I wrote up to this point literally: "/s")
That was your alternative example which you say is better and not absurd.

Uhh, no, it doesn't happen everyday. It can't. The world would be in utter economic chaos if it did. However, i would argue that it should. One should probably think twice before promoting someone from a millionaire to a multi-millionaire or billionaire. Governments do have somewhat of a say in the redistribution of wealth. However, that is not relevant in the case of Iruma's Scala. The point is, an executive decision was made to ensure that not any Tom, Dick or Harry gets the money (a rank up in status/rank). It is still to be decided if his actions have contributed or regressed the Netherwold. Therefore, he shouldn't be a millionaire (rank Vav) yet. The whole point of this rank 5.5 was that it is something that has never happened before.

Take your mind off it by reading peak. Have you ever read manhua/manhwa before?

You aren't remotely staying true to your own analogy here. You were talking about wages before, now you are shifting from income to wealth. The example you are giving here is what I'd call completely misrepresenting the situation.

And yes I have, many of which aren't better than mangas. I'd argue that the average Xianxia cultivation manhua is even more dictated by tropes and braindead than isekai mangas.

I was talking about salary. Salary, Wages, Director's Fees, Partner's salary, same thing--just different amounts, at different times. It's all money. I am not misrepresenting the situation, you are just failing to understand my analogy. Which checks out.

You just weren't searching well enough, lil bro. There is peak out there.

There is peak with manga, too. You can't just say that one medium in itself is superior, if you compare the peak of one with the median of another.

Now for the fun part #showerthoughts:
For one wealth and income are very different things. One can make 100k every month and never become a millionaire and one can win a million without any stable income. But keeping that aside, since you steered back to income here, let's apply your accurate analogy and think it to its conclusion.

Since you were adamant in Henri being part of the government being essential for the analogy to be correct, we'd have two alternatives here:

1: Henri is part of the government due to his rank and as part of the 13 Crowns. In this case everyone would be part of the government, working on different levels and your analogy being remotely close to any society existing in reality would break already. Unfortunately, since in your initial post you explicitly referred to Henri's position in the 13 Crowns, this is most likely what you had in mind, however being as generous as possible I am willing to go with

2: Henri is part of the government due to his specific role as Chief of Border Patrol and the ranks are more of a caste system tied to income. (Granted, this version would also fit better, as his appeal was coming from Border Patrol and not in his role as part of the 13 Crowns.) In that case we'd have several problems as well.
The system already has a ton of people with ridiculously high income way above what is in question here, yet adding one more on a much lower level would crash the economy to the point the government itself would intervene, not because promoting anyone to that level would, but specifically because of something they did to get the wage increase they'd otherwise deserve.

You say that this situation is possible to occur in reality and not absurd, so show me any example of it (or something close enough for the situation here to appear reasonable) ever happening.

(I'm a bit sad that you didn't stick with wealth as that would have been even more hilarious)

P.s. Since not every high-ranking demon can become part of the 13 Crowns and they are an entity separate from the rank system I'd shift that role to alternative 2 in hindsight. However that is mostly irrelevant here, as this chapter explicitly stated that the appeal came from Border Patrol.

P.p.s. Well, seems like this discussion is over. If there's any lesson to be learned it's that if you instantly resort to calling your opponent a retard your alternative offered should at the very least be flawless.
Just imagine being all smug not understanding something as incredibly basic as the difference between wealth and income, treating them as the same thing.

P.p.p.s. Just leaving some last choice words for my dear conversational partner here in case he reads them.
You may want to grow up a bit. Widen your horizon. Stop insulting the intelligence of others because of your assumptions, as you have done repeatedly here.
Because someone applies stylistic devices in a different way and for a different purpose than you they don't have to be stupid.
Because someone has a different opinion than you they don't have to be stupid.
Continue to behave the way you did with me and you might get into trouble at some point.

Iruma-kun seems like one of those really popular but not well known series that sneaks up on you.

Ameri truly has the strongest motivation of all to reach the peak of the netherworld: being too embarrassed to confess. We might see her become the next demon king (or queen) before Iruma catches up purely because there's nowhere else for her to escape to.
Iruma: catches up
Ameri: "FUCK. Imma have to become Demon God."

I wonder what Mephisto is plotting, well I suppose it doesn't get better than living right next to your target, Sullivan doesn't seem to mind either. Wonder if he'll also try to get into Babyls.
Also Ameri and Iruma would rather chase after the highest position in the demon world before either will have a honest conversation. The demon youth these days...
