The thing I think the Mafia story does best is ground the characters of Iruma's main universe. They're still the same characters, but they're just people, and not powerful demons. That—along with the fact it's chiefly dramatic instead of comedic, and the change in dynamics like Kalego being subservient to Iruma instead of vice-versa—allows for the characters to be written, characterized, and act vastly differently to how they do in the main story.


I think the Mafia Spinoff is really one of the strongest I've ever seen in any media ever because it's the same characters analyzed through a different lens by their own author. Absolutely brilliant peak fiction!
