Just to take one point, I doubt the author would describe demon society as "good" in the first place. Or even most of our protagonists. They're not role models, that's for sure, given the rampant theft and rulebreaking. As I said initially, they're demons. They self-centered, amoral, and ambitious...and in Japan, "ambition" is written as "evil intention". Why do you expect them to be anything else?
