It's hard to know exactly the truth behind the legend. The torment of young girls and the amount of victims was the most credible of the two claims because it was documented. It's been said that most of the accusations towards her were unfounded because they were either acquired through torture, and that they never found the bodies. Elizabeth wasn't even allowed to defend herself against those accusations. So we'll never know. =/ People also said it might've been a conspiracy to get a hold of her fortune.
