Stories like this really need more than a one shot to be good. There's too many situations and emotions condensed into one single situation. It needs breathing space to deal with 1. Social cliques, 2. This weird person, 3. Insecurities, and 4. The other person's issues - this is way too short to put them all into one - not to mention literally nothing has been resolved at the end.
