Hey Mitsuda, doesn’t that sound sort of perfect? Just like that, you can dig yourself out of the hole you got yourself in in the first place. I’ll never call you a genius, but even I’ve got to admit that’s pretty smart. You’ve been setting up Furuya as the main character since he was introduced, all you have to do now is follow through with it. Nobody will be against it. That’s a really perfect plan, isn’t it? I thought it was a completely hopeless manga, but you’ve actually managed to give yourself another chance to make things right. I mean, do you even have to think about it? What’s there to think about? What’s the other option? The reason why people have been saying things like, “it’s exciting”, “it feels like a baseball manga again”, is not because of Fuurin-Oobi, it’s not because of Shigeno Goro’s useless son, it’s because of Furuya. You know what other things people have been saying a lot too? “Furuya feels like the main character”, “Furuya is the main character”. I don’t believe for a second you don’t notice, so what’s the end game here if Furuya doesn’t become the main character? Furuya is no Goro, and I don’t know if I can ever forgive him for that, but he’s still young, with a lot of work he can become a modern Mitsuda hero. A modern Mitsuda baseball hero born in the era of Ohtani. How's that sound? Fucking great, right?
The dialogue says, “Don’t leave Furuya for dead”, okay, so I won’t. I’ll try, but you have to try too, Mitsuda. So what’s it gonna be? Do you give up, or try again?
Ha! Of course I know you’re not gonna make the right decision. I know you better than anyone. But imagine if you did? You’re far too gone into your self-destructive spiral or whatever. All you want to do is draw pictures like the one in the cover forever and ever and ever. Didn’t you make a terribly wrong career choice many years ago, Mitsuda? Even if you did start over with Furuya, it’s too late now. Maybe if you were five years younger it could work
