finally get to the prefectural tournament/Tsujidou game after 2+ years of translating
mangadex dies
That’s beautiful man. I couldn’t have come up with something better even if I tried.
And that’s that. I’ve continued to monitor the situation, and in the end, I refuse to wait for the ground to collapse right underneath me.
Before this, I was always the first guy to defend Mangadex. It allowed me to build something that I could call my own, meet others (even if I can count them with just the fingers in one hand, but well, one true friend beats a hundred idiots…), and make all kinds of memories. That is not lost on me, even if the devs turned out to be huge cucks who bent over way too easily and threw scanlators underneath the bus…
I’ll miss it, but demolishing a half-destroyed building, or killing a wounded animal, are only sensible, even merciful things to do. I choose to do that. Hm, is this the first time in my life I’ve made the sensible decision…? Well, the simple fact is that I just no longer wish to upload here. So it’s not the sensible decision, just me following my selfish desires and dragging you all with me~
To be honest with you, if there’s ever been a time to quit scanlation, it’s now. Even now, I believe that if I quit right now, I wouldn’t have any regrets, so I don’t know if I’m making the right decision or not…but well, I’ve come this far. There’s no getting off now. I had the chance, and I chose not to take it. I kind of feel bad for future peko…
Now, let’s see, about the chapter…ah, why are the chapters right after a game finishes always so heavy-duty? I have a life, you know…
- Why is Anita on the cover? After all I guess Mitsuda must like her, that one-track-minded guy…
- Mutsuko’s mother is fat, which means she will also get fat in the future. Well, it’s Mitsuda’s fetish, so I guess it can’t be helped, she’s also probably drawn to Kandori for a reason…
- I quite like this Sawa-san page! Even someone like me who hates the way Mitsuda draws his female characters (at best, I find them not cute, and at worst, they cause me to feel revolted in a way which I can only describe as being “reverse-conversion therapy-like”) cannot deny the appeal of Sawa-san! Her hair after just waking up/getting out of the shower is still slightly damp, and it falls gently on her face giving her a mature, sexy look. Even though she spends her days getting dirty and playing baseball like a man, her feet are still beautiful and delicate like that of a schoolgirl, no blemishes or calluses. Very fine work indeed, this is some of Mitsuda’s best work. Props where they’re due, old man! Aah, if a sexy character like Sawa onee-san were the main one, I think I’d like this manga much better, or at least I’d enjoy working on it much more…It still wouldn’t be worthy of being called MAJOR, though.
- The changing clothes scene makes its long, long, long-awaited return after 2+ years of it being absent! People say that it wasn’t featured because Mitsuda was busy playing baseball, but I don’t care, certainly you could have found a way to sneak it in before! This manga is nothing without it, I still wish I could have seen Taki’s changing clothes scene…
- “If we win three times again” no, don’t say that. Since every game takes at least six months to conclude, and then you add the downtime which is another six months, and then to that you add breaks for combined issues…ah, I feel like I just saw a scary image of my future…
- Goro’s injuries in MAJOR are effective because they actually present a challenge to him and his team to attain victory, so if Sawa’s injury gets brushed off I will be very disappointed since it would be pointless. Commit to something for once in your life, Takuya Mitsuda…hey, aren’t you that author who’s come to love pointless stuff in his later years…?
- I guess he’s either going to end it right after the Tsujidou game or he’s going to drag this slog for a couple of more years with the other two games after. I’ll just have to wait and see…
Those are my thoughts about this chapter. It’s a very scattered chapter, so my thoughts are also scattered. Overall, I guess it’s fine? It actually feels like it has stuff going on for once. I don’t know what to say about slice-of-life scenes being Mitsuda’s forte now…
Well, that’s all for me. See you again~
