I don't like the notion that he's no longer human because he was bound by the molestus collar, which is fitting given "molestus" is Latin for troublesome/annoying.

I think it betrays the theme that humans and witches can work together and that they're both too quick to judge said abilities and powers.

Though, this may be a case of a biased individual recanting perceptions by wider societies as opposed to the literal truth, as he may just be saying "you're no better than a witch in the eyes of the church." We'll have to see how this unfolds.

Ugh. . . I can't already see the drama of the good old friendship-betrayal cliche coming soon. Something along the lines of her doing something intentionally stupid, nearing getting her witch friend killed, possibly regretting her actions like an idiot even though it's entirely her fault too begin with, doing something else even more stupid to make up for the betrayal earlier, then trying her best to atone for her dumb mistake even though she caused a lot of damage to her friend, and finally - she gets forgiven or possibly sacrificed right as the two friends make up. How utterly boring. For once can't someone just kill her to stop the drama before it even happens?

@Tamerlane From my understanding, the bond is supposed to grand the human and witch abilities that synch with each other, but in this case the witch has only been one for a few days and thus isn't supposed to be able to grand the bond but manages out of sheer desperation and emotion, granting him the opposite of her plant ability, fire.

I agree with you about the title being granted by the church and that it is just a label for a human being just as bad as a witch, seeing as Tuyuki has a flash of her teacher and her bond being happy together and touching.
