I've been keeping up with the WN translation, and I think the best part of this series is how most characters in this series treat magic with this sense unbridled curiosity (tho tbf, 'most characters' in this series are mainly S-class magicians). There's always such joy and awe in discovering something new about the 'abyss of magic' as they call it. And I think this feeling is best exemplified when Kunon collaborates with others as in this chapter.

Dunno, if that's the one you're referring to as an 'mtl'd mess', but since I'm able to read through recent chapters without getting a headache, I'd venture to say that it's not that bad (chapter 250 as of now). But more importantly, the update schedule is also extremely consistent. Precisely every 3 days.
