I wonder what the budget is for things like post. And if she did write so much, the Dud on the other end might just be too overwhelmed to properly respond.
I'd like to imagine him coming back from a trip to a literal wall made of stacked letters and thinking that this is some art piece like a painting or a vase is and chooses to ignore it. And nobody dares to tell him the true nature of the wall because they themselves can't fathom how anybody including themselves can or should react to such an "art installation" :notlikethis:

I feel a little bad for Jenie, but she feels the worst about herself. It's her low self-esteem holding her back. She did wrack her brain to invent dozens of variations for Kunon to learn, and that produced the Kunon who is now turning heads. That's Jenie's accomplishment!

Even if she doesn't have the same amount of magic power or easy adaptability as Kunon, she certainly possesses creativity. If she spends less time doubting and more time working, she can be a pretty good mage.

Thank you very much for the translation. With every chapter that gets TLd, my love for this series only grows.
It may one day become my favourite manga of all time.

Happy to see Jenie Sensei again. She's such a good teacher.

The flaw with this manga or this concept, is that if it so easy to learn new magic, why do mages not learn a shit ton more ? Instead of just a few then customize it over and over with different variations. When having many more different magic in your pocket is much more useful.

I feel like Jenie is seriously undervaluing herself. She clearly has a brilliant mind to even think of all the variations on magic that she did when teaching Kunon, and she's a good enough teacher to instill a love for magic in him from an early age. There are tons of teachers out there who can't do what she does.

I think people in this world generally do learn the other spells within their elemental affinity, but there's pnly so much a spell can do at a base level. By customizing it, they can expand what a spell can do.

Remember that up until this point, Kunon was only taught 2 basic spells, and specifically spells that couldn't be used to hurt people. Kunon is also a genius, so he picks up spells extremely quickly compared to the norm.

I assume it's because while there are a few basic magics, most other magics are advanced and harder to learn, while iterating on simple magics is easier.

Tho honestly i get the impression that most people just get to a tier of magic they are comfortable with then iterate from there, that's why Kunon is weird for being a strong mage who sticks to basic magics

It only feels that way since Kunon can apply variations so easily. The vast majority of mages cannot, and those who could do something as amazing as Kunon are specialists even among veteran mages. It’s NOT easy, which is why the more limited magic is more common.

Yeah it's a huge mistake to compare yourself to a one in a generation genius lol. Like you said, her low self-esteem is preventing her from understanding that she's one of the main reasons Kunon is where he is today.
