Honestly, the writing feels so weak and rushed but atp I'm reading any half decent fantasy story concept

This scene had some potential, but for some reason they decided to leave it like that.
Shit looks like a fan-art done in ms-paint in 5 minutes as a challenge.

It's odd for these two to start trusting each other so soon after what happened to the both of them.

But then again, it's hard to force logic onto these things. Maybe they spent more time together after the initial meet-up, or they have personalities highly receptive of kindness/empathy, both more than what is shown...
