Yeah, a lot of the sentences don't even make sense. It's clear that this is an MTL that they didn't even bother to proofread.

This translation is complete ass, just absolute dogwater. But I gotta say, I appreciate that MC and his friends all treat each other like friends, and they’re not absolute psychos who can’t wait to backstab and betray each other, like nearly every other manga for some reason.

It's pretty interesting for Kyousai to be so understanding of his own weakness. It's usually more common in these stories for characters to not immediately acknowledge their own weakness and try to cling on without much hope, until a fortuitous encounter or their adamant will lead to them becoming stronger. Here he is having an attitude closer to a kid who has a cast and can't get in the pool, so he just sits by the side with the adults while his friends play in the water. It's very mature of him.
