Honey naturally preserves itself for a long time (think of it like jam, all that sugar prevents spoilage because it's hostile to bacteria).

This means that even this bacteria cannot grow in honey. The issue is that its spores, which are present in the honey, are extremely resistant and still survive even through a pasteurization process. You'd have to heat up the honey to much higher degrees than a typical pasteurization to actually destroy the spores.

And since humans can usually process that in their stomachs just fine, it's really not an issue since the spores will never germinate. Only babies cannot do this so we just tell people not to feed honey to babies, like many other foods.
