I didnt realize why the art was so familar and then when I saw the MC from Road to Kingdom everything made sense. That's so fucking cool.

A lot of authors seem to not know how slavery even works. Though it does make sense that he wants everyone to pull their weight.
Interestingly so, slaves normally don't pay rent or taxes or buy their own food, which is a big disadvantage of slavery. If other forms of cheap labor exist, it stops being viable altogether.
