But he was almost fully unconscious at the time, so no telling if he'd actually remember that part.

I thought he was just sensing her presence when he said to leave him alone. But I'll just take the current info that he somehow heard her voice. I'm guessing the manga adaptation left a little bit out for creative interpretation to make the scene more impactful, but then they forgot about this plot point.
