If you're talking about resources like Anilist, that's pretty much in their style. I remember them adding a yuri tag to one anime based on the trailer alone, while the manga didn't have it because those who read it knew there was no yuri.

Yurifans are delusional and rabid. If you drew two stickmen and labled them both girls within minutes you'd have a goggle of them show up to argue "clearly yuri", "best yuri ever" followed by manic derogatory comments about "het romance".
Generally it's best to avoid interacting with them or attracting their attention, however they're an easy scalp commercially since they pay out the wazoo for even a hint of anything girl on girl.

Pretty much yep. Idk if it's like MAL that everyone with an account can submit a genre/theme/staff changes etc, but that requires a mod to check beforehand.

There's a lot of inconsistency in those tags and their "%", not exclusively talking about LGBT entries (mal is also not that different in that regard tho)
