Bisque Doll's latest has exceeded 1k comments if you put Potetto and Tonikaku's numbers together and seems to be on pace to hit #3. Arguably the most popular chapter thread in the modern MD since it seems to be the only one in the top ten (ish) from post-2023.

There is a dramatic difference in "popularity" of thread if you sort by number of views, though. Might be some interesting sociology factoid to be uncovered there

In 24 hours, the finale to Sono Bisque Doll has nearly surpassed its own Ch. 107 to become the most commented chapter thread on MD v5*

The chapter with the most comments I've ever seen is this one: Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san, ch.69. It is not modern (from 2020), but has more than 1'400 comments, though not a lot of substance to them, lol.

I supose that would answer the question all the time? You just wont know historically what was top 1 and when with that link though, but only what's currently top 1.
Unless multiple groups are on one popular chapter, but that'd be most unlikely.
