Real question, how do you think people dated before the Internet and Phones? It's weird to me that you think it's weird. Seriously, because this used to be extremely normal and accepted before the internet ruined everything. A clerk or waiter slipping you their number was extremely common place, it was a way to show interest. People didn't date using websites, they just asked out people they wanted to ask out and it wasn't considered a threat.
Here's a crazy concept that young people don't get, people used to go on dates to get to know a person. And this was before Fear mongering made all men into implied sexual predators, men and woman used to just interact with each other, talk, just be people and if someone hit on you, it wasn't a big deal at all. Because the echo chamber didn't exist, people just treated people like people, you judge someone on their actions, not what you preconceived them to be. It didn't matter what religion, political party, skin color or whatever.
You could be friends with someone you didn't agree with, a concept most people today can't even fathom.
You wouldn't assume the worst about people back then, so you could just hit on people at a store, it wasn't a "threat" like in 2024. People weren't brainwashed by social media to think that every man would attack you. People were just people, empathy was a thing back then. It's so crazy how the 90's were so close yet no one in this current generation can even imagine what it's like. The rampant hate in 2024 is so terrifying and there is no slowing it down. Tik Tok is making people into horrible hateful bigots and it's just going to keep getting worse.
