MC isn't gay he just uphold his standard and is respectful, in the first chapter he was full pervert mode because he knew he wouldn't bang any woman as he was just an old (by his society's standards), ugly, sexually impotent man so he was basically invisible in the sexual game unless paying a whore, so this is why he didn't care to uphold his values and went full pervert mode, but keep in mind that he only thought of that, but never said it to anyone.

Once he became attractive and got his sexual vigor back, thus coming back to the sexual game he expressed his wish to marry and only do that with a woman he loves, he even rejected the hot thot at first because of that. The same goes with Aria, she's hot, cute and dependable, but they're strangers for each other and on top of that she's a former woman noble trying to regain her house's honor, so her chastity means a lot.

Lucas know this girl is only offering her body since she has nothing else to offer, as someone who also lived in a poor condition thanks to his hand injury he can somewhat sympathize, there's also no love or attraction (yet) involved in that offer, so taking advantage of an desperated young woman who clearly don't love him would leave a bad taste in his mouth and I respect him for that.

I think it's just page filler, honestly; if you took out every panel of tsukomi, there would only be 8 pages per chapter...
