okay here i come as the acctually guy you are right most of those are based of medieval germany and the age of adulthood there was considered to be 14 which you can acctaully still see in some german folk and german christian traditions and even laws here are still a lot based around the age of 14 like age of consent or criminall liability

It is hard to like the MC because he simply does not take care of himself (among so many other faults). It's one thing to have all his skills and accomplishments handed to him via constant deus ex machina. He complains about looking old, yet he won't shave or bother trying to look less scruffy. Sure, the author is keeping him deliberately stupid, but that is not the way to entertain the readers who abandon such stories as being a waste of time.
