Depending on Ike’s past life background, a queen that has slip ups and fails a bit like that might actually score gap moe points (at least that’s what the author was aiming at for the readers, probably).
I fail to see how having somthing that will trick it into fighting helps. I already will attack if they attack it. Plus if it give of the sent of a female dragon during mating season it will attract males as well. The only way I can see it being helpful is if you place them a distance away to lure the dragon to a different stop before it heads to the breading grounds, so that it effectively curves around the village vs flying over, but you could have to do this before and after else it will just fly over on its way back.
That fruit is a catastrophically bad idea, it could not possibly improve the situation. Best case scenario, it's useless. Worst case, it attracts both belligerent female dragons and horny male dragons. The village can only lose
