My thoughts exactly. It isn't the first time where I have read a story where the subordinates openly defy their superior's wishes in a similar hierarchy and gets away with a comedic beating that doesn't have any real effects on the story. Just doesn't make any sense at all, seeing how the demon lord should be rather absolute.

This story was doing so great until it made it clear that this little arrangement is going to be constantly used with every new character that tries to get between the couple. Really brings down the quality of the story telling by so much smh
