I wonder if he's going to be revealed to be a "Sage", not like the magical kind but like the "old man" in Zelda that gives link the sword, aka not just a villager but an "Important-NPC" above regular villagers? It seems that way from how the mib-like people are saying for him to be kept near the demon king and being praised for "reigning in" the hero xd
