That doesn't sound like he knows for sure. Well, it might only be an issue with the presentation/translation. As you said, other pages suggest that he can identify the caster with certainty.

@simcacwan I'm not saying he shouldn't kill them. But I would think he has the leeway to question them before. One guy even admitted it himself only seconds later.

I guess the villains in manga etc. are too simple, as are the heroes. Like, one of those hooded guys could be a hostage instead.

In case you haven't realized it yet, the enemies in this manga are your typical "so blatantly trying to be evil that it's comical" bad guys. If you told them they could become more powerfully evil by punching themselves in the face, they'd do it without a second of hesitation.

He's a really powerful demon lord that can negate magic fighting a low lv necromancer group, a splinter would give him more trouble.
