It's not that it's fiction but it's how that fiction is handled. Too many authors use stuff like rape for shock value to create a response. Murder is used as well but rape is different as the victim if still alive is hardly shown with their trauma and at most times it's just swept under the rug and never fully expanded on. Using it that way is pretty poor writing. Happy that people now are more aware and want better from authors.
